Hi Arty. Apologises for the stoopid newbie question, but where are you off to?

No reason to be nervous. It is a short flight. Just wait til you come here or fly to Australia.

im off to holland to visit some friends that i met online. not on this site tho, i don't think we have any dutch people here. i could be wrong.

it is only 2 short flights but it is scary all the same. you'll have to wait for my u.s debute for a couple of years, can't afford it now.

Wow! You'll love Holland. I've been a couple of times, and it's a beautiful, amazing country.

I really hope you have a great time!

You will be OK, Lucy, the cabin crew will look after you. Bring plenty to read to take your mind off it. Once you have done it by yourself, the next time won't be as scary.

Just think about how much you are going to enjoy yourself.

Sue is right, and her advice is good, Lucy. Of course it's worrying until you've actually done it, but IT WILL BE OK.
And enjoy Holland - it's lovely

Arty--I'm a white knuckle flyer, too. For years I coped with awful symptoms: sweating, dry heaves, runs, etc. I tried meditation, prayer, guided imagery (always seemed to end badly, no matter what I tried to imagine), soothing music. Nothing really worked, and I always arrived at my destination completely exhausted and raggedy.

Now I just take a mild tranquilizer, along with a pill to slow down the gastric activity. It's enough to kill the panic but I can still function. A cup of coffee or a soda usually perks me up so I can drive once I reach my destination. Drink lots of water if you decide to medicate--all that stuff dries you out pretty severely.

Have a wonderful trip! Take notes so you can tell us all about it when you get back.
