Sudanese Refugee Book. by tucsonmike on 31 October 2007 5:18am

Well, I met with Peter today @ Zemam's. He has about ninety pages and they hope to have the book done in May next year.

I corrected some grammar and moved a couple of chapters around. They are doing very well.

Maybe you've posted on this before--I'm still pretty new here. What's this book you're editing?

That's right, you were not on the site when this started.
It has becoming a running joke, especially among Tucson Toastmasters. A fellow Toastmaster gave a young man named Peter Ayuen Manyok my phone number. He and two other members of the Dinka ethnic group in the Sudan are what are called "Lost Boys." They want to write a book about their experiences.
At first, I thought, there are three books out about this sort of thing, how in the world am I going to make this different? Well, people (mostly writers) kindly submitted what they would like to see in such a book. So I gave them 22 questions to get them started.
I had a brainstorm last week and thought they should contact retired basketball player Manute Bol for backing. Turns out, Peter's roommate knows him. The roommate was a basketball player.
So I am editing their book in my copious spare time, LOL!

Well, it sounds interesting to me. Best of luck with it.

Thank you. I will have to write the addendum, "It is ALL Mike Zakis' Fault!"
(He is the Toastmaster who gave Peter my number).
