I'd be all for it!

There used to be a judge in New York state who punished juvenile offenders by forcing them to stand on a street corner from 9am-5pm wearing a sandwich board that had their offenses printed on it. One girl had to walk up and down in front of a store with a sign that read, "I shoplifted from this store and got caught." Another girl had to stand on a street corner wearing a sign saying, "I had unprotected sex" and pass out condoms to passersby. People walking by variously supported or verbally abused them. Of course, they were supervised by court-appointed adults, both for their protection and to make sure they served out their "sentence". The recidivism rate was very low among his juvenile offenders.

So yeah, bring back the stocks, or have grownups stand out in city streets with sandwich boards. Let's see Madoff pacing up and down in front of his office building with a sign that says, "I deceived hundreds of people, stole their money, and spent it on luxuries for myself, and I can't pay it back."

As I am sticking around a little, and in the light of the recent inaugaration of Mr Obama, I would suggest listening and watching this clip of the mighty voice of Mahalia Jackson. John

Now Mahalia is a class act. I love that woman! That was a great rendition of that song.
