Off on holiday! by Spursfan on 19 April 2009 8:31am

I'm off on holiday to Turkey tomorrow !!! Just for a week.

Well actually we leave this afternoon for Manchester where we are staying overnight before flying tomorrow about noon.

I don't know if I'll have a chance to come on here again before we go but if not - behave yourselves you lot while I'm away!

I'll be back on Palins a week on Tuesday!

We had a great time, thanks all - not long enough but then again it was because we already missed Tosun!!

The flight back last night was cramped (Thomas Cook flights) and the husband was fidgety and uncomfortable. Normally if we can't get extra legroom seats (and they were charging £50 EACH one way last night!) we ask for 2 aisle seats.

When we checked in and asked for the aisle seats, apparently ALL the aisle seats had been pre-booked. The husband said 'how can they be, when if we wanted to pay to choose which seats we wanted they would have been available?'!! No joy. They said as we left the counter 'have a nice flight' and the husband 'no we won't' and I said 'thanks to you!'. They just didn't listen to you.

ANYWAY.

Whilst in one of the three queues to check in I looked across and had to do a double take because there, right in front of my eyes was Michael P as Mr Pither in The Cycling Tour!! Well, not really, but the man (on his own) was the spit of him! He really did look like Michael Palin!! I discreetly brought the husband's attention to it, and he agreed that what made it 'worse' was the fact that he was wearing a knapsak on his back. I had to control myself because I just wanted to laugh!! AND he had a Yorkshire accent!!! ROFL!

:)

There was a guy who was sitting at the corner of a bar in Disney World's Rain Forest restaurant who looked just like Michael too. Or, come to think of it, it was Universal Studos, now that I think about it. That was a few years ago. He wasn't dressed as one of MP's characters, though, but he wore a blue shirt and had features that had me looking at him during my entire meal.

Oh! Lol!

I half expected 'my' Michael Palin to talk about self-ejecting tomato sandwiches!!

Or at the very least, shovels (different character!!)!!

HAHAHAHAAHA!

Wish I'd had the nerve to go up and mention the likeness but I'm FAR too polite!

What a coincidence that he was a Yorkshire-man, or could he have been a distant cousin?

:)
