Am I too emotional... by Spursfan on 6 September 2009 9:34pm

...because whilst I am on this site, I can hear the TV, where my husband is watching a prog about telephone calls made from the twin towers and my cheeks are wet with tears!

I'm not even WATCHING it and I am blubbing...

So am I too emotional?

:(

No, an atrocity like that takes a long time to get over.

Of course not, Anne. People will sob over this and other tragedies for a long long time... maybe forever. The tragedies of so many, when heard on a personal level, like phone calls, letters, diaries videos, and so forth, bring any disaster right to one's heart and soul. Hearing and seeing friends and family talk of incidents that touched them deeply will hit most people hard. It's a matter of whether you have empathy and most people do. Just like watching abuse to animals, whether you know the animal or not.

Oh, Anne...no, sweetie, not at all. When people witness disasters like that, it's overwhelming. Not only do we grieve for the people caught up in the disaster, we grieve for everyone and everything that we still haven't achieved closure with (not grammatical; forgive me).
I'll admit it--I choke up over things related to WWII, ASPCA ads, the news...I could do a whole thread on it.

I cry at ads on the telly about little kids and ducks and puppies and toilet paper!

I cry in movies with supernatural themes, like "Ghost", "The Ghost and Mrs Muir", "The Sixth Sense", "The Green Mile", to name but a few.

*sniff*

Oh yes deffo Missy! I cried in Braveheart and I just can't watch anything with sick kids in it. Atonement was another tearjerker. Ace film though.

I watched the Trade Towers from a cliffside in New Jersey. I don't cry, but I think about it. It is part and parcel of what I am today.
