Around The World In Eighty Days DVD by my dear on 6 June 2003 12:46pm

Somebody posted that the first travel episode will be available on DVD this September - which would be excellent news (and long overdue, I might add).

And yet I'm unable to confirm this news anywhere.

Amazon.com in the US absolutely denies that 'Around The World In Eighty Days' is forthcoming.

Can somebody provide me with a link that will affirm the availability of Michael's first travel program on DVD?

I believe it will only be available inthe UK. But if you have a mulit region DVD player you can buy them from the BBC directly....
don't have a link handy....
Someone posted some similar info in "The Series" section. Hope that helps.

I don't believe it.

Virtually any DVD that's actually produced can be bought at Amazon in the US - if a product is available, and can be sold, then Amazon will sell it.

I refuse to believe that Amazon (in the US) wouldn't attempt to sell Around The World In Eighty Days if it were available on DVD.

Something fishy is going on here - either Amazon will eventually list the product for sale, or else the initial rumor was bogus.

I still can't find a proper link. The BBC website doesn't seem to mention anything relating to Michael Palin whatsoever.

This is weird.

I went on the BBC shop website, and after a very quick search arrived at this link:

hope this helps

well well well slagging us all off and now you expect us to help you .
jake is right you will find it in the BBC shop . which is where i found it .
not sure what region the DVD is though you will find it out when you get there .
the reason why you can;t find it on any other site is that it is not released unitl next september acordding to the BBC shop site . as it is a BBC show they may have the rights to sell it for a certain amount of time before it is relesed to the shops or sites like amazon although i know the sahara dvd was realssd pretty quickly . however new show .
all the best

'Tis I, Katie, your technologically challegened Palinite, here to ask:

Will the DVDs play in my player? I'm in the US. I knew tapes were different, but I thought DVDs all played the same. *sigh* I am so dumb when it comes to this stuff. I won't be able to take it if I wait to get the DVD and then it doesn't work.

Will I be able to purchase, and enjoy the magical goodness of Michael's travel DVDs!?!? Eek!

Katie--
DVDs from the UK will not play in a US Regional player(or some such stuff).
I learned this from this very website-- a cornucopia of information!
You need to a multi region player to view the DVDs, and I also learned that they (the players) are pricey.
I think we have to wait.
boo-hoo! Waaah!!!!!!!

Hi Helen and katie

another technologically challenged person-palinite here!! DVD players? - they seem to be regionalised - but I dont understand either and I am waiting too, technology always comes down in price very quickly, as they invent new products all the time.

I'm joining the palinite queue for a DVD player too, shall we have a cream tea while we are waiting??

Thanks for the info! I went searching around to see if my DVD player was OK for any DVD, and I'm pretty sure I can play all 6 regions, so I'm happy. Whoopie....for now. We'll see how happy I am in September when I find out for sure.

;)
