Happy Saint Patrick's Day 2012 by Loretto on 17 March 2012 1:53am

Well, we don't really get into the whole celebration of it over here. But I suppose sharing a picture of Saint Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland will be sufficient to mark the day.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day all!

If you came to my town today Loretto, you'd think you were in Ireland. Fr Sweeney of St. Patrick's ( right in the main street ) has turned Paddy's Day into a 3 ring circus !

( He's a lovely Irish priest who gave me help and guidance when my sister died, despite my long-lapsed Catholicism. )

We saw The Fureys with Davey Arthur last night in the Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline. Great Irish music and ear plugs not required! A lovely preliminary to St. Patrick's Day. Let's hope I can find a Guinness easily this year!

Happy St. Pat's!

I'll have a Guiness later tomorrow afternoon, Pacific time. Every year the pubs here do an 'Irish' beer that is a lager coloure green. Is that done where you are?

Today in this town, everything will be green except the black stuff which the bars will run out of eventually !

What do you think Loretto ? Is my town more Irish than Portumna ? ;)

Yes John, there's definitely a LOT of Irish stuff going on in your hometown. And well, with regard to Portumna, I hope spirits are good today. They've had a tough time of it lately, who hasn't?

I laugh when I see the quiet man on television here for St. Pat's day. Talk about a Hollywood view of Ireland! The should show Richard Harris as The Bull McCabe in The Field! Way better. Although I like Maureen O'Hara and Kevin loves John Wayne.

Here's a trivia question....in FAther Ted's sitting room which movie star's black and white portrait hangs on the wall?

John (Pilgrim) Wayne.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day.

Kevin and I went out to dinner and passed O'Neills Pub, there was a line of about 100 people waiting to get inside. This was at 7:00, at 9:00 the line was about 20 people and the doors were wide open, so we could see inside. Wall to wall with people. A sea of green hats, fake feather boa's and sparkly necklaces. And I'll bet not an Irish accent among them. Dinner was nice, sea trout, at a restaurant called Match.

The Furey's and Davy Arthur Ken, I loved their song When You Were Sweet 16. Hope you got to drink a pink of Guinness today.
