Have you ever been disappointed by someone. by johnnyBgood! on 17 March 2012 3:09am

I'm thinking about an ex-colleague that I helped last year, then haven't heard from since. I'd heard his job was on the line and offered my help by phoning him and giving him advice on union matters. He came to my house several times and I went over all the relevant paperwork with him and I gave him his defence and even pulled a few strings in the background. His lovely wife Arlene was grateful for my help but I've never heard from the 'big man' since. Even after his job was saved against the odds, he moaned about the drop in wages he'd suffer as a result of the company's actions. It's because of eejits like him that I declined to be more involved in the union or serve on the pension commitee.

Well, not in the same league as yours John, but yes!!

In the past we have on several occasions become very friendly with people we have met in Turkey (tourists I mean), with promises on both sides to meet up, and more importantly, promises to send copies of photos taken of us all. We have always duly sent off photos, but only in 2 instances have we received photos back. Ok, people we have met, perhaps you don't want to continue the friendship, as we probably didn't, but when you got OUR photos and letter through your letterbox wasn't your conscience pricked? !!

Needless to say we don't bother any more, and haven't for years. As it happens the last time we did, the other couple came to visit us a few months afterwards (with mutual consent of course!!) and we are still very good friends 9 years later. We are visiting them in Yorks next week (we probably visit each other 4 or so times a year) and are going on hols together as usual in June. In fact we bought property in Turkey together and they have the apartment above us.

They restored our faith in people!!

:)

I can be a strange bugger and I'm always reluctant to get friendly with people I meet on holiday. I wouldn't want Hyacinth turning up at my door, would I ? ;)
