The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Photographs. by Ken Dunn on 14 December 2013 8:08am
I sometimes send a photograph or two to the Dunfermline Press for consideration in their Image of the Week page. I sent them 3 last week: one of the Tay road bridge, one of a sunset at Elie and one of the moon and venus from Dalgety Bay. I got a bit of a surprise when I was looking through this week's paper to find that they had published the moon one and had used a full half page to do it!

The photo is taken from our back bedroom window looking towards the Forth railway bridge with Hound Point (a tanker jetty) to the lower left. The sky is dark blue changing to light blue with bright yellows on the horizon at which you can just see the tops of two of the rail bridge towers. The near foreground is mostly black with some roofs visible illuminated by small sodium vapour (orange) lights. The crescent moon is up right of centre and venus is down left of centre. There is a large tanker at Hound Point (lower left) but its illuminations look small as it is about 2 miles away. There are a couple of pale purple streaks of cloud below venus and a little cloud at the horizon, mostly to the lower right, above which the silhouette of the top of a tree is just visible.

If any palinite would like a copy of this photo please let me know and I'll try to get one to you. My photos usually send at between 2 and 3 megabytes.

Well done Ken.

Our local paper, the Staffordshire Newsletter, has a similar thing on their letters page, where they have a reader's photo each week.

One week we sent in a photo Zak had taken of a view from round the corner of a local rape field, a gorgeous yellow. They printed it.
