Horrible Books? by Helen on 31 August 2003 8:59pm

I would like to know what people have read and detested! Just for kicks! I'll start---
I read Killing Me Softly by Nicci French-- it was GOD AWFUL!!!!
... I tried to muddle through stuff by Regina Barreca... just can't do it. Her writing is horrible, and her 'research" is slanted and elitist.. ugh.
I really did not like Hannibal by Thomas Harris, and someone lent me The Morning After by Katie Roiphe and it made me want to hurl! It actually pissed me off!
who wants to go next?
:)

FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD (Thomas Hardy) is the most boring and unimaginative book that was ever written! (no offence if you like it!) i had to read it for my GCSE English exam and i nearly lost the will to live.....

(got me a B though! yepeeee!)

Any books by Sheila Flannigan ( is that her name?) are crap - they all involve some perfect 30 something with stupid problems...

uggghhhh.. I hate those perfect 30 somethings with stupid problems type books.. That was "Killing Me Softly." I despised the main character.
She ditched her faithful and wonderful fiance for a "dark stranger"...

hi Emily-- so glad you are getting into books! I responded to your drink invite on the travel section... it explains a bit why your post really hit a soft spot for me...
Keep checking in as we may have some good suggestions for a really smashing read! Especially David the bookworm Wizard, and some of our librarians on the site! :)

I hated "The Sun Also Rises." Hemingway. Blagh. SORRY, MICHAEL! I can't even remember anymore why I hated it so. I just remember getting angrier as I read it!
