Frida from Abba by Tibetan sunset on 30 April 2004 12:37pm

Did anyone see that fascinating documentary last night about the dark-haired one in Abba?
All that fame and money but she now lives a solitary existence in Switzerland. She is the daughter of a German officer and was born as part of a program invented by Hitler to create a master race. She was one of an estimated 20,000 babies born at the end of WW2 in occupied Norway but she later 'escaped' to Sweden with her grandmother. The 'nazi children and their mothers were persecuted in their own country. Many of the others were kidnapped and taken to Germany. She grew up thinking that her father was dead (sunk at sea) but he re-appeared at the height of her success with Abba and they became close. She then married a Swiss Prince. Then her father died followed by her daughter.
No wonder she was enigmatic and moody into adulthood, poor girl.

yes,, i did watch it and was really touched. however, she came out of it all just fine I suppose. being alone now does not mean she is lonely though.

I didn't say she was lonely. I think she just lives in a state of solitary bewilderment and deep thought about the way her life has been. I mean, you'd be hard pressed to make up a story like that.

ok ok ,, I read you.
but so far she did not go thru what the rest of those children experienced. I just spoke to a colleague who said they knew about this already in the 70's

Well, i won't say it wasn't interesting. But that whole period of history makes me shudder. Finding out what secrets people hold from those times IS interesting but... *shudder*
