Looking for friends in London by Theodwyn on 7 February 2005 4:58pm
It will be three weeks, since I arrived to London...bad mood is gone, now, Iam full of lifeforce and I would like to find someone, who can show me interesting places in London and nature out of London, be my friend and help me improve my English. Iam 23, girl, loving fun and people.

My friend, be very careful in posting such messages. There are some not very nice people out there who would take advantage of a single foreign girl looking for friends in London. If you do fix up to meet anyone make sure you follow all the basic rules of safety; meet in a public place, keep it cool and friendly, don't give away too much personal detail, and if you can, give someone else you trust your contact details so they know when to expect you back where you are staying.
Enjoy your stay but take care.

Hi Theodwyn-
What are you doing in Britain? I think that, generally, the people on Palinstravels are a fairly safe bunch to associate with. Bohuzel nebydlim v Londyne.
Thank you by Theodwyn on 8 February 2005 4:36pm
Wild in Africa, thank you...if I see your message, I believe, that it is also a lot of friendly and nice people here...like you. I will follow rules you wrote me, it is usefull and I really dont know nothing about London and people living in. Once again, thank you.

Intrepid, Iam au pair in London. Where do you live? Iam just trying to find some friends here, but in fact I believe I will find some great people during my staying here.
Re: Looking for friends in London by intrepid on 8 February 2005 5:44pm
I'm glad you didn't respond in Czech! I live in Brno (from the US originally), and I know a lot of people who have au pair-ed in the UK or US. One friend had a really weird man she had to take care of and she left after a week, but other people have stayed for 6 months or more. All of my friends who have been to the UK talk about meeting people in the pubs. And where are you from originally?
Zlin zdravi Brno by Theodwyn on 8 February 2005 7:41pm
Iam from Zlin, it is not long way from Brno. My plan is to stay here for one year, at least. In CR I had been in pub or bar every day, but here it is very expensive. I will see. My friend promised me to take me to Czech pub here. Your english is very good, have you ever been in England, or somewhere else?

Oh, I'm from the US- but for the last 6 years I've lived in Brno where I teach English. I still don't speak Czech very well. I was in London for one week when I was 12 years old, so you've already been in England 3 times as long as I was.
I've never been in Zlin! I've never seen the Bat'a factory or anything else. I think it's the only important city in Southern Moravia which I haven't visited. How long have you studied English? I see that the Past Perfect isn't a problem for you.

So you are from US...I dont understand, why people from for example us or uk are going to CR...it seems strange to me. Zlin is too young city to be interesting, but I love it there. Brno is really nice. My very good friend study in Brno, so I have been there for several times. I have studied English for 8years at school...but its a long time ago...Do you like being in CR? Past perfect is really big problem for me...all tenses are problem for me...but sentence Have you ever been...is very well known. M.
