Extreme sports by Wild in Africa on 9 June 2005 1:45pm

Any extreme sports enthusiasts amongst fellow Palinites? In the past I have tried my hand at Bungee jumping, free fall sky diving, scuba diving, skiing.

But for real extreme sports I would count such things as Para-bungee jumping whereby you free fall parachute in tandem and then in mid-fall you Bungee jump from the guy to whom you are attached. Now that is what I call Extreme!

There is though a series on Nat Geographic presently called Extreme Ironing which sounds one way of overcoming the boredom of this pastime.

Weell I used to scuba dive (husband still does). Is paintballing counted as I enjoy that? Guess not. Other than that not really into extreme sports, unless you count lying on a sunlounger reading a book in the sunshine!!

Dunno, with UV infiltration at dangerous levels and skin cancers on the increase perhaps sunbathing shoudl be classified at least as highly hazardous. I tend to follow the Aussie maxim: Slip, Slop, Slap, with regards to the sun.

Because of my illness I have to stay in the shade - and use plenty of suncream!

I abseiled 450ft for The Pituitary Foundation, and playing football with the boys at school should be counted as extreme! I wrote an article for the school paper on Extreme ironing, i found some great pictures.
http://www.extremeironing.com/index.php Try googling (images) Extreme ironing, they're very funny!

Michael did some extreme ironing in 80 days! And theres nothing poofy or effeminate about that! The clothes needed ironing because they needed cleaning after getting dirty doing mans work, in a mans way, in a mans world!

Hey, I never said ironing was in any way effeminate. I do my own ironing and my wife does hers and in that way we break down a task we both find tedious but necessary.

We haven't yet tried it underwater, on top of a mountain or while parachuting yet. I have enough trouble concentrating on it while our five month old watches and yells!

Doesn't the washing get soggy underwater??!!

I still have a pile of ironing from our hols to do - perhaps I'd better get a DVD on!!
