The Chatter Box : Blathering On
World Challenge by Ahren on 11 October 2005 8:40pm
In 2007 i'm going to Zambia and Botswana with World Challenge. It should be absolutely amazing, but it's £3095!! I was just wondering if anyone knew of any money-making ideas to help?
I'm planning on busking in Winchester, I've got to get a job (obviously!) and I've thought about baby-sitting.
Anyone got any other ideas?!!

That sounds great, Ahren! What an experience it will be! I don't know how athletic or energetic you are, but you could go on sponsored bike rides, swimathons or walking, getting people to donate so much a mile, etc. etc. Or have a car boot sale! Sue

Could you sell your story to a local paper?

If you have access to the internet there, you could ask people to donate £5-10 and for that you can send them photos and updates about what you've been up to (depending on how long you'll be away for)

Did you read through the list of ideas that are already on the World Challenge site? Some sounded pretty creative!

A few years ago I did some sponsored freefall tandem parachute jumps. People were so impressed with the idea that I raised about £1000 each time, so that might be a good idea if you like the sound of it and are not scared.

Put an add in the newspaper.
Years ago a teenage boy here in the states put an add in the newspaper asking for a Free Ferrari. It was, I beleive, a fairly used up 308 model. Not the top of the line but a Ferrari none the less, and someone gave it to him.

Woah!! Free Ferrari! But you're in America

I like the sound of the parachute thingy! How much did it cost? I don't know if I'll be allowed to do it, do you have to be 18 or something?
