TROPICAL CYCLONE INFORMATION BULLETIN
For 10pm EST on Thursday the 23rd of February 2006

At 10pm EST Thursday, Tropical Cyclone Kate, Category 2, with central pressure
985 hPa, was located in the northern Coral Sea near 11.3S 147.4E, about 460 km east-northeast of Lockhart River. The cyclone has been moving to the east at about 18 km/hr, however it is expected to slow down during the next 12 to 24 hours.

Currently Tropical Cyclone Kate poses no threat to the Queensland coast."

I keep forgetting it's summer down there now. Keep us posted, Ellerd, and I'm sure you'll be alright. After all, you wouldn't have to rely on the US gov't for assistance.

Well, that was short. Kate is an ex-Tropical Cyclone already. A fizzer! Now that I've insulted her, she'll probably reform and teach me a lesson! I'll keep an eye on her though.

Arty farty, no, Kate isn't the first cyclone of the season. About six weeks ago, we had Tropical Cyclone Jim, but it moved away from the coast. Scared a few folk in New Caledonia though.

Canaveralgumby, I'll be going away tomorrow and won't have ready access to the Internet. She's fizzed out though, so I doubt there will be much to talk about. With luck, anyway!

Ooops, Matron gave away somethin' bout having girth. Shielding Queensland from the elements? Matron, you aren't Mother Nature or an Astroid, are you? (I'm still holding out bets, Ashley is sneaking in the computer like a Harry Potter figure.

Issued by the Bureau of Meteorology, Brisbane
Issued at 10:32am on Saturday the 18th of March 2006

A Cyclone WATCH has been issued for coastal and island communities
between Cape Tribulation and Proserpine.

At 10am, Tropical Cyclone Larry, Category 2, was centred near latitude
17.2 south longitude 156.6 east, which is 1150 kilometres east of Cairns.

Tropical Cyclone Larry is expected to intensify further and move in a westerly direction over the weekend at about 25 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Larry is expected to affect coastal and island areas between
Cape Tribulation and Proserpine early Monday morning."
