The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Discovery Times Programming by tucsonmike on 26 February 2006 7:00pm
These were done in conjunction with various stations. There were three good ones on Friday night.

1. The Book of Revelations. Everyone thinks this predicts the end of the world. Some scholars now think the Apostle John was really writing them as a series of letters to churches in Asia Minor either praising or condemning them and telling them not to be taken in by Roman luxury. John wrote these from exile on a Greek island just off the Turkish coast called Patmos. He was in exile, yet no one stopped him from writing these.

2. The Etruscans. The civilization in Tuscany that predated Rome. Rome finally picked them off piecemeal and incorporated them into Roman life completely. They were built up and wealthy when Rome was just a village.

3. Rasputin. A retired Scotland Yard detective named Cullen developed an interest in Rasputin. He found something that may implicate the British Secret Service in "assisting" with Rasputin's killing. (People in the American South would say about Rasputin "that boy needed killin'"). Detective Cullen did a profile of the victim. Members of the Russian nobility had been planning this for years, but their opportunity came when the Czar was off at the front.

All three programs were fascinating viewing on a Friday night.

Don't know if you watched "Forever Knight." They wrote Rasputin in as a vampire (how he cured the boy), but he was very unbalanced and didn't handle the responsibility of being a vampire properly, even they have a code of ethics!, so they had to destroy him.

This isn't exactly the conversation you were looking for, is it, tuscon? :^)

No, but I like it it is clever. And rather fitting. Rasputin proved difficult to do away with.
