Another instance of a common language leading to confusion - in my youth Razzle was a very cheap soft porn mag. Er, so they tell me!
I miss Spangles. |

Many many years ago, in a land faraway (I made up the last bit) we carefree youngsters enjoyed such mad delights as:
Marathon Bars (now Snickers); Opal Mints (later called Pacers); Opal Fruits "made to make your mouth water"!!; Five Boy Chocolate; fruit spangles and old fashioned spangles; fruit gums (in tubes they were round but in a box they had alsorts of fruit shapes); fruit pastilles; Fry's Chocolate Cream, which came in a bar of dark chocolate with white mint centre; Fry's Peppermint Cream, same as above but green peppermint filling; Frys Five Centres, the same but with different fruit centres; Toffos; Refreshers. I also loved (still do when I can get hold of them!) the double lollies.
I could go on and on. You can still get some of these from websites such as www.aquarterof.co.uk
Oh and does anyone remember Treetops orange squash? It was my fave as a child.

Ohhh you can still get fry's Peppermint Creams thay're delicious!
My grandmother (when she was alive) who had emigrated from England to Australia used to crave them and I found a little sweet shop there that had them and I used to go over on the weekends and we'd eat them and watch the afternoon matinee :)
Was lovely. |
