The Chatter Box : Blathering On
For Layne. by tucsonmike on 9 March 2006 6:06am
My Educational Vice President, Liz Ivanov did a speech from the Advanced Storytelling Manual and the purpose was a story with a moral.

A young girl named Catarina lived in an Italian village. She was a vivacious playful girl who giggled and played with all her friends.

Suddenly, Caterina became ill. Her friends came to the house, played with her and tried to cheer her up, but she got worse.

A cold wind blew from the Alps to the North. Caterina grew sicker. Her favorite uncle came every day. He was an artist and would ask, "Where would you like to go today?" One day, he drew a sunny Greek village, another day, the Canals in Venice.

The leaves blew from the trees and icicles began to form. Caterina grew weaker. One day, her uncle came and asked, "where would you like to go today?" Caterina said "Nowhere, uncle. When that last leaf blows off, I will die."

Her uncles eyes flashed. "Never speak like that again. You will be that bright little girl again." As winter went on, Caterina had trouble beliving him.

Winter gave way to spring, The vines one leaf clung tenaciously through the winter. Buds were appearing and Caterina began to feel better. Eventually, she was back to her old self, playing and laughing.

Remember the moral of this story. Believe in your inner strength and yourself.

Thank you Sue, but I am only passing it on. It was better to hear Liz give it.
