World Cup 2006 by Marcelle_Rio_de_Janeiro on 27 May 2006 12:23am

Hello again!

News from Brasil:

As the world cup is getting closer the enthusiasm of brazilian men don't stop increasing. Many are already in Germany, some are still packing, others are just making clear to their wives and girlfriends: "during the world cup, forget about me, I just wanna know about football, gonna be at the bars with friends watching the games!"
Brazilian women already have an aswer ready for that: "All I know, dear, is that I'm gonna have sex every day during the world cup, with or without you here!"
The football players wives, who stayed in Brasil, made special t-shirts with the phrase written on their back: "My husband is out at the World Cup!"

LOL! I know I am excited. Good thing about being American is I can just watch the fun, knowing the U.S. wont go far. (If we play Mexico, that gets exciting, though that is done frequently).

Sorry, I should just state that I'm referring to the Brazilian player Kakà rather than...

;)

I'm since 16 years a fan of the German team. (I guess, I'm in a minority here.)The last Wold Cup was great, I didn't expect to see them in the final, it was really surprising for me. This year... I don't know. they play at home, but this team isn't so good.

And it was funny to read about my favourite match ever in MP's Full Circle,(except, that he mentioned "Muller" instead of "Möller", but isn't a big problem. *winks*)

Anita, you follow Germany? How did that happen? LOL!

I just bought National Geographic for this month. The cover story is about Soccer.

I'll be watching how Trinidad and Tobago get on. They have a player called Jason Scotland who plays for St Johnstone (a Perth team) and they also have another very good player from the English league - Russel? Latapy. I hope I've got all these details correct as I'm not the keenest of football fans.

Australia has a place in the World Cup this year, and we recently beat Greece 1-0 in a friendly. I don't really follow football/soccer, but I'll be taking an interest in how Australia fares. We're in Group F, which also includes Croatia, Japan and Brazil.

Well, Mike, it was love at first sight!
You know, I was 10, and Jürgen Klismann was soooo cute!
And they won the Cup in 1990. That was also an important thing. :)))))

Ellerd, as I can see, it isn't an easy group for Australia.
But, let's see what will happen.

certainly will be interesting if America and Iran qualify for the second phase and are drawn together!! Expect fireworks on and OFF the field
