Palin-related! question about the movie "Blowout" by canaveralgumby on 1 July 2006 11:31pm

I've been asked by someone who contributes to Wikipedia if I could verify whether or not Michael Palin was an extra in the 1966 movie "Blowout." Allegedly he appeared somewhere in a scene where the lead character enters a Yardbirds' concert. You can view it (even if you don't have sound it's okay) at:

Since she gave me the suggestion that MP might be in there, I thought I spotted him. However, I wouldn't have spotted him just watching the scene without the suggestion. Can any of you find him?

Webbie, if possible could you please find out? THANKS! -- Cori

The name of the film is "Blow Up", the most accessible of the films by Antonioni and definitely worth seeing.

I thought I spotted him, too...I dunno...Maybe? I am NO help at all.

but geez, Jeff Beck destroying his gee-tar was pretty cool.

And you can see why Jimmy Page went on to be a larger than life full out Rock Star. He had the looks AND the chops.

Awesome clip, Cori. :)

Oh, I haven't ehard anyone talk about that film in decades. I almost forgot it existed. Is this the movie about a murder in a park where someone sees an image under a tree on a photograph and blows it up to discover it to be a dead body? David someone was in it, I think? I doubt I'd even be able to find a coopy of that to check for Michael...

Yep. Davis Hemmings and Vanessa Regrave. A great double bill is "Blow Up" paired with Coppola's "The Conversation" which is the same plot but the clues are from sounds instead pictures.

"BlowOUT." I'm such a spaz. :^)

Okay. I thought I saw a man who COULD be MP in the 3rd camera shot of the above clip. DH enters the room in which the band is playing, and then the camera slowly pans toward the stage. The audience is facing away from the camera at a 3/4 angle.

IF it's MP I think he's standing in the audience, more toward the back. Wearing a graphite grey shirt. Guy in front of him in a white shirt, guy in back of him in a red t-shirt. The person has a similar head shape (that sounds funny) and jaw and chin as MP. And the obligatory sideburns of the time, which MP had! (Happens to be wearing glasses.)

Webbie, any word??

P.S. if you EVER have an opportunity to see Jeff Beck, DO IT!
