The bombings in India by Ellerd on 12 July 2006 1:01am
170 killed in train bombings in Mumbai. :(

My sympathies to the people of India. I hope no Palinites have been caught up in the attacks - there have been quite a few India-related travel questions lately... :(

This is the first I am hearing of it. Who did it, do the authorities know?

My symapthies also go out.

I was in Pakistani Kashmir just over a week ago. I'm sure this will increase the danger levels between India and Pakistan again.

What, the fact that you were there? JUST KIDDING, WiA!

This incident amplified what horrible, terrible news coverage we are subjected to here in the States. All anyone asked was, "Was this al-Qaida?" It most likely had NOTHING to with al-Qaida, but we have to insert ourselves into everything. Or, there's an inference that we can't be bothered with this news because it had nothing to do with the US.

Well, my prayers go out to the victims anyway.

It will probably provoke communal violence, Hindu v. Muslim, too. It has in the past. :(

It is dreadful - my sympathies go also to the victims and their relatives.

After my cousin's wonderful experience with going to India for her surgery, she and her husband are really thinking about retiring there and they've been trying to convince me to come with them which I've been considering. I'm happy to say that the bombings have not dissuaded my feisty cousins' interest in India.

I don't blame them, Geraldine. If you live that way, I should never set foot in New York again, because of 9/11 and the recent uncovered plot to blow up the PATH train tunnel under the Hudson.
Geraldine and I have talked about this. Can we afford to stay where we are in retirement?
I am still looking for the magazine info on International Retirements. I know it is an Irish publication.
