1. The first sight of Jimi Hendrix on TOTP singing “Hey Joe”. I had heard this on the radio and my Mum said what a good musician he was. Then he came on TOTP looking wild and wonderful. My mother then said what a drug-ridden waster he was. : ).

2. Star Trek TNG when the crew are transported by Q to Sherwood Forest and they have to take on characters from Robin Hood. Worf says, “I must protest. I am not a merry man.” It made me laugh.

3. One of the moon landings when the crew were packing up to come home. James Burke was commentating and excitedly came out with, “There they go, looning up the loader module.” An accidental spoonerism.

4. Only fools and horses – the chandelier. Just so funny.

5. The death of Ayrton Senna. It was just a horrific weekend at San Marino with Roland Ratzenburger having died in practice the day before and a pit crew member also losing his life. I was never a supporter of Senna but he was the best at the time. The impact on the sport would be like the premier division losing a third of its teams in one foul swoop.

6. When the wind blows. The animated story of an ordinary couple dealing with being bombed with nuclear weapons. The impact was enormous – more meaningful than any documentary.

7. Copenhagen. A play about an imaginary post-war meeting between Heisenberg and Nils Bohr. Heisenberg stayed in Germany and Bohr didn’t. The play concentrates on the moral issues of their decisions. It is hard going but brilliant.

8. Professional Foul by Tom Stoppard. A wonderful TV play about a football fan and professor of ethics (Peter Barkworth I think) who travelled to various conferences but only accepted those where he could go to the world cup qualifying matches. This is set in Prague when still an iron curtain country and is very complex in plot. Well worth a viewing.

9. Abigail’s Party. A play directed by Mike Leigh. Just another wonderfully constructed piece of drama.

10. Bremmner, Bird and Fortune – always good viewing. The only good satire on tv.

1. The Ministry of Silly Walks
2. The dead parrot sketch
3. "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition"
4. Cat entertainers
5. That sequence... "good looking model in a bikini... good looking model in a bikini... John Cleese in a bikini"
6. The career advisor (from accountancy to lion taming)
7. "Dinsdaaaaaaaaaaaaale"
8. The Wimbledon finale between the Scotsman and the blancmange
9. The funniest joke in the world
10. The vicars condemning the "new religion"

Do I need to specify which show I am quoting? :-D

The final scene of the final episode of "Newhart" where he wakes up with his wife in the bedroom set from his previous series and discovers that "Newhart" had just been an insane dream. ("...And there were these three woodsmen and their name was Larry...."

Geraldine, that was tops. A real classic with the perfect ending. My sides hurt so much after seeing that episode. It was a fabulous, well-kept secret how that show was going to end. Nothing has come close to topping that one. Thanks for the reminder. lol

All of seinfelds are funny, although I understand that most Europenas don't find it so because it's so New York. But it was hilarious in my book all the time.
