Royle Family (TV comedy) by Spursfan on 13 January 2007 3:02pm

Well, last night got round to watching the Royle Family + 10 prog which was shown in early December (we were visiting friends near Sheffield).

Has anyone else seen it? I thought it was sooo good, plenty of comedy but -omigod - plenty of bits to tug the heartstrings too!

I have to admit I wept buckets!!

One of the funniest bits? Cheryl being asked how her diet was going and saying very well, etc, and saying she had to eat lots of nuts, but because her work didn't sell nuts she'd had a Topic and two Snickers!!

Most moving? Nanna saying she had wished on the wishbone at Christmas that she wouldn't have to go into a home.

What made me cry most? When Nanna died and they played 'Scarlet Ribbons' as a back track (she'd said her hair was tied up with red ribbons by her Mum).

Excellent programme.

Saw it Anne, but missed the bit where Nana died as I had to go out(picking up my daughter as usual).I hope it gets repeated.
Non-UK Palinites should seek out The Royle Family. It is one of the best British comedies ever.
I read Ricky Tomlinson's (one of the stars) autobiography recently,it was really good and quite funny.
John.
