It is quite the show-biz style gig, but it's all positive. And rather infectious. I saw some of Mr Obama's speech at the Lincoln Memorial. His speech-writer is starting to repeat himself. If we compared transcripts we'll probably see it's the same stuff over and over with the words swapped around.

He is very good, though, and I wish him well. I'm starting to like him, and the brighter outlook on our American dominated future.

Yes, it is becoming the same words. The train trip though was unbelievable. I really enjoyed that. Now, we have to get down to business.

I think he's a bit embarrassed by all the attention and worship, and especially by the fact that as soon as the election was over, other world leaders were turning to him instead of Bush. He's trying to be diplomatic about this, but I wouldn't be surprised if we hear a LOT of different stuff on January 21. Maybe not, but I'll bet there's stuff he's been itching to say but hasn't out of respect for the current president.

It would have been a blast to ride that train! Take the cameras and microphones away and it must have been just great. What I did see was very positive and enjoyable. This guy has something I've not seen in a President. He's a very good actor and he believes in his role being perhaps bigger than history will show...but it looks like he believes. He wants a more positive state of being than we've been suffering through during the past several administrations.

Is Connex supplying the inauguration train?

Re: Inauguration Train. by tucsonmike on 20 January 2009 3:05am

Well Amtrak supplied the train, except for the luxurious rear car, but luckily this train meandered. Our commuter trains are normally on time, Amtrak trains on the other hand...

I can't get enough of Obama at the moment, so it's fascinating to read about the train journeys & the speeches. Must've been great TV: as Mike says, you get the politics AND the trains.
