I've never liked my name either, that's why I prefer Terry. Though, if I had been a boy I would have been called Nigel Greasly. So i guess I got off lightly.

It arrived this afternoon, Loretto. I'm only half way through it. Naw, it is in a prime spot beside my reading chair. It looks good!

Still some errors in it, and that is driving me batty. You need at least five proof readers Pete because your eyes do go dead. It's the weirdest thing. Plus I have a rotten habit of using the passive voice, that's a big no no. Hope you enjoy it and would love to know what you think!

When I first left school I worked in a bank on the enquiry counter. One of my tasks was to change people's names in passbooks. One woman came in , her name was Olive Worm. She had for married and changed her name to her married name, Grubb! So she went from Olive Worm to Olive Grubb. Oh and the best bit was that her new hubby was called Randy Grubb.
All true!
I posted on this site about this before it was years ago though.

I remember your post from years ago Karen.

It reminds me of the guy I used to work with, whose name was George Shite. He hated that name and changed it by deed poll to.......... James Shite. ;)

I always call you Johnny - unless I am 'telling you off'!!
:D

I have always thought Anne/Ann a bit pf a boring name - and WHY did Enid Blyton call the boring 'girly' one in the Famous Five 'Anne'??? Even as a kid I was cross about that.

My name is actually Elizabeth Anne, but my parents have always called me by my middle name. Even now I have to answer to Elizabeth if it is something official, otherwise I say I want to be called Anne.

My sister is Loretta Jean, but has always been called Jean.

I sometimes wish I was called something exotic, but then I probably still wouldn't like it!

Our daughter is called Genevieve Samantha and when she was born I didn't see the name anywhere (apart form the patron saint of Paris). Now there are Genevieves everywhere; it is beginning to almost be commonplace! She says she prefered it when she was unique!

:D

I just remembered a chap I worked with in the RAF, his name was Arnold Shite.
He lived with that name for 35 years before getting fed up with it enough to change it to James Shite.

John, I posted that joke on FB last week. :)

Anne, 'wee Meg's' name is Margaret-Anne and her family call her Anne. I was confused when I first met them in 1975. I thought she was leading a double life ! I'd only known her as Margaret.
