Hi, I just found this site yesterday and I am already addicted:) My name is Kyra, I am 20 and live in Washington DC.
What I do: I work at a Shakespeare Theatre a few blocks from where I live and I run a Lord of the Rings fan club branch for DC, Maryland and Virginia.
What I like: I love Brittish TV shows.........they are so much better than the American drek. I grew up on Monty Python, Blackadder.....etcetera, etcetera.
I am also a BIG movie buff. I love all types of films............from LOTR to Braveheart to LA Confidential to Errol Flynn's Robin Hood. I in particular love classic films and actors. My favorites are Leslie Howard, Yul Brynner, Greta Garbo, Robert Montgomery................and to many more to name here.
I collect autographs (Noel Coward's signature being my prized piece), blue glass and anything LOTR..................
There is nothing else I can think of to add......

Hiya Kath (I think we've met before briefly??) and lotrchild.

Greetings from Middle Earth (Christchurch NZ). Really nice to meet you both. Welcome to Palin land where the Palinites live. On the whole we're a little taller than the hobbits, but I'm not sure about the feet thing as I've only met most here from the waist up!! :^}

Great to see you're seriously into Lord Of The Rings lotrchild (hence the cool username??) The movie holds a special place in most Nz'rs hearts, especially as it was filmed throughout the country. Everyone seems to live near at least one location and knows of someone or a friend of someone who is working on the movie! Be it building the sets, catering for the various filming units, doing Liv Tyler's hair or making the swords that Viggo Mortension wielded and working at Weta Workshops. It's just amazing!

When we went to see the 'Fellowship' for the first time, a lot of the audience were crying (me included) for at least the first hour, as we were all so proud and amazed at just how good the movie was! The same thing happened at the 'Two Towers'!

Three weeks ago, my husband and I went to Wellington to hear Michael speak at a function there, we met Dianne, a fellow Palinite. Before the function we went to The LOTR exhibition, at the National Museum. We got to touch the various arms and swords used. Marvel at the incredible costumes and prosthetics fitted for each actor and even saw the life size and completely lifelike mannequin of Sean Bean, lying in the boat after he dies. The detailing of his facial skin texture, right down to the skin tone was so life like, that you expected to hear him breathing and then wake up. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen and quite unnerving. It's the closest I'll ever get to Sean Bean!! :^}

Anyway, welcome, do come and join in with the madness... :^}

I can't believe we're nearing the 200 mark. I've NEVER had any thread that I've started grow quite like this before. I even kill cacti!
Welcome lotrchild! I'm a bit of a fan myself! Have a strange attraction to a wee Scottish lad name Billy. My husband puts up with THAT because he's a HUGE LOTR fan!
Ellen-
I loved what you had to say. It's so sweet to know how so many had such pride for their home land when they saw the film. I dated a gent from Aukland some years back and he was always telling me about how beautiful it was there. (quite the catch....skydiving instructor named Nick....but now my heart belongs to a Graphic Designer named rik - aside from my wee crush on Mr.'s Palin and Boyd).
Enjoy!
kisses-
trixi
Oh-and Rusted....I posted my e-mail in the US Cities thread. I got the dates for the US leg of the tour....YAY!

Hello Trixi! Glad you got the dates for Michael's US tour - it must be so exciting for you! Oh yeah, just wondering who this Mr. Boyd is whom you have a wee crush on? *Hehe*

Cheers,
Michelle :)

Kyra – what great taste you have in movies. Errol Flynn in Robin Hood! That is a great movie.

Ellen – that was Sean Bean . . . wasn’t it? I swear that was the real man . . . wasn’t it? He was very good at lying there very still. I agree with Ellen, it was so lifelike I expected him to open his eyes and look at me.

Sorry, but I just wanted to have to honour and privilege of posting the 200th message on this, our longest thread! Three cheers for MORE introductions, and for Trixi who started it all!

Cheers,
Michelle :)

Trixi...

Not only are we both Michel(l)es,

Not only do we live in neighboring states,

Not only are we both Leos,

And not only are we both Michael Palin/Python fans...

We both like Billy Boyd!!!!!!!!!!!

ROFL! This is FREA-KY.

When I went to see 'Fellowship', I immediately took a liking to the amusing and endearing and very Scottish "Pipen". I admit I have a predisposition for Scottish men, but all that aside, Billy Boyd has one of the most gorgeous Scottish accents I've ever heard and...er... 8O)

My friends all tease me for my inkling towards the mischievous hobbit. You shoulda seen my face when I thought he and Merry were goners in 'Two Towers'. LOL!

I checked out his info at the LOTR website, but I haven't gone much past that. What other stuff does he do??

Billy Boyd fans eh? My god, every friend I have that is a fan of Lotr LOVES Billy best. I personally don't go for Hobbits........I like Elves and Men. Sean Bean, Orlando Bloom, Viggo Mortenson and Craig Parker (Haldir) I love!

Billy does lots of theatre and is going to be in the up and coming Peter Weir film 'Master and Commander' starring Russell Crowe.
