Democrats vs. Republicans.

I am putting this up as the American version of the end of the Labor Party.
I never thought I would see the day. When I was a kid, the parties were really just a vehicle to get elected. Our Founding Fathers did not want parties. They just sort of "happened." It used to be each party had Conservative, Liberal, and Moderate groupings. Now, there are real ideologies.
Atlantic Monthly thought the Democrats would split. Has not happened.
And I am still shaking my head at the thought of 2008 campaigning with the election still a year and a half away.
Oh, and Richard Branson was mentioned in the show on the History Channel The States yesterday when the program did New Mexico.

A Democrat victory in 2008 will be a disaster for America and the international community.
I agree Mike, the fact that there is campaigning already underway for the American Presidency defies all logic. |

Yea, there is quite a bit of campaigning. I think some of the candidates are way too interested in their personal gain. In fact, one of the candidates is a senator for my state, Illinois and because he is campaigning willy-nilly, he is not doing his job in Springfield. Oy. |

Why would a Democratic victory be a disaster both here and Internationally? Depends on the Democrat: depends on the Republican.
We normally tend to right ourselves in the end. Then again, fewer of us are involved in the process.

If the Democrats won then I think they would embark upon an isolationist foreign policy in light of the percieved failure of this Administration. |

I disagree completely. I think that in light of the miserable foreign policy failure of this administration, Dems would make it a point to be out there, finally showing our best face again. There's a whole lot of work to do to repair the damage Bush has done to our world-wide reputation. |

Morse, in one post you excoriate Bush (which I totally agree with, btw) and then here you say a Democratic victory would be a disaster. I know that you dream about America adopting your sad queen as our monarch but that is just not going to happen. You need to move beyond your infantile fantasies to a realistic view of international politics. |

Can't be isolantionist. Not in the modern world. If anything, Democrats are more worldly than some Republicans.

The Queen is twice the person that you will ever be, sighthound. Care to explain how you know that the Queen is sad? I think regal is the correct terminology. You only see the public formal face, I am a little suprised by the way in which you are so blinkered.
I do not have these dreams which you have mentioned about re - instating the monarchy in the US. I believe in national self determination.
I support the republican party, I like George W Bush but to a lesser extent. Although I may like him, I still think he is a monkey. |

So little Michael has seen more than the queen's " public formal face".
Been having tea with her Michael ? |
