Sometimes it makes me ashamed to be human... by Spursfan on 1 August 2007 5:55pm

The R.S.P.C.A. have found that the worst animal cruelty takes place in the West Midlands.

Examples are a gorgeous black labrador (I think) which had been tied down and castrated with a knife, they think, with no anaesthetic or stitches. He was nearly bleeding to death when he was found. Luckily he survived and is now a happy, well-looked after family pet.

Then there was the starving dog who had to eat its dead companions to survive and the cat who was so ill and weak its face was stuck to the floor.

I don't know what happened to them but it makes me very upset to thnk of how they suffered....

Annie, if you could read the reports on what has happened to children in you're area, or any other.......

That is not a critiscism but I know what upsets me most.
Btw, give wee Tosun a gentle kick in the ass from me ;)

I knew SOMEONE would say something like that (not referring to your very naughty comment re Tosun!!) but I didn't expect it to be you.

Yes cruelty to children (or adults for that matter) is sickening, wrong, etc etc. Personally I dislike the NSPCC ads because they are so upsetting which of course is the point.

Yes it upsets me when an innocent is treated cruely but cruelty to animals such as this upsets me most. There are other incidents - a kitten being thrown off a high rise and it being filmed on a mobile for kicks (it had to be put down) I mean, what sort of sicko does that?

I know all about 'man's inhumanity to man' but what about the other (after all innocent) beings on this planet?

Oh and when I say I don't like cruelty to my fellow man (person?) I don't count the perpetrators in that category.

You can castrate them, throw them off buildings etc etc.

As I said, no offence meant Annie. To be honest, sometimes I just think having pets is a luxury the planet can't afford. Maybe the Koreans et al have the right idea, in that dogs should be eaten rather than consume precious resources for the return of shitting on our streets and biting ( or in the case of savage dogs like Staffies ) sometimes killing children.
Yes..... the more I think of it, do away with pets.
G....what have they ever done for us ?

Let's see...
Documented beneficial health effects in lowering blood pressure, combating depression, etc. Protection against intruders and giving alarms for fires and other emergencies. Vermin control. And, of course, all the functions performed by "working" dogs: search and rescue, guide dogs, hearing dogs, assistance dogs, therapy dogs, police dogs, drug and explosive detection, herding, guarding, hunting and so on and so on....
Not to mention that they can be funny and/or beautiful and are darn good company. Enough for you, Johnny?

Too many humans is a much bigger problem than too many pets.

As sighthound takes about a week to check her mail........I was joking Geraldine !!
I would never advocate eating dogs............not while cats were available.
