Susan Tsvangirai killed as Toyota Landcruiser hit by swerving truck trailer by bIG bLOGGER on 7 March 2009 3:31pm

The 50year-old wife of the Zimbabwean Prime Minister,MDC leader(Movement For Democratic Change),and a key part of the new power-sharing government,Morgan Tsvangirai, has been killed in a road accident on the main road south of Harare, the Capital, and her husband was injured, although not critically. Their Landcruiser rolled over several times after being hit by a lorry which swerved to avoid a pothole.

An MDC spokesman said it was "suspicious",and may not have been an accident. Previous attempts have been made on Morgan Tsvangirai's life, and on the lives of other MDC officials,so naturally conspiracy theorists will go into overdrive.

A little cynicism about this being an accident is justified.

Mike may be right, what do you think, yourself, Peter?

Hard to be dogmatic about it,I'd say.

The BBC said there is no evidence to prove it was anything other than a tragic accident caused by the parlous disreputably maintained state of Zimbabwe's main highways.
Since Morgan T. survived the crash,I don't think the conspiracy theorists will be able to make a case.
But nevertheless,it seems evident that Mr.Tsvangirai will be devastated to learn of the death of his wife,to whom he had been married for 31 years, and who had borne him 6 children.
