Australia gone overboard with PC

"A CHARITY exhibition at Sydney Children's Hospital of works by some of Australia's leading artists has collapsed after hospital officials saw one of the works - a photograph by the Archibald Prize winner Del Kathryn Barton - in which her six-year-old son is shown naked from the waist up."
Decide for yourself - is this picture inappropriate?:

Omigod how ridiculous! PC gone mad!
If it was waist DOWN I could understand it, but for pity's sake my guess is that he normally goes around with less on than that in the summer, out playing with his mates or on the beach, in full view of who knows how many potential paedos!! Like most if not all kids of his age!
Nobody is saying we should encourage paedophilia, of course - but let's get things into proportion here!! This and things such as stopping parents filming their kids in nativity plays 'in case' someone uses the photos/videos for something unsavoury is just part of mass hysteria.
It's a lovely photo. |

Oh, for bleep's sake!! I thought the eyes glued on him were a little disquieting, but that's just my taste.
Not long ago, there was a horrid mess involving an overzealous Wal-Mart photo clerk who called child protective services on someone who'd taken some pics of their 3 and 18 month old kids in the tub. The parents almost lost custody over it. XD |

Omigod Fran - doesn't EVERYONE take photos of their kids in the bath at some stage(s)? When something cute happens and you just happen to have the camera handy? It makes me want to scream!!!
We have a lovely photo of our grandson Simon, aged 3 I think, sitting on the loo !! At the time, we had my Mom living with us, so the loo had a special seat on it, with a frame round, so she could get up and down (if you see what I mean!). He is naked, but you can't see anything, and he even has his arms crossed over his chest so not even nips!!!! I just sneaked in and took it as a joke, and for years we had an A4 version on the wall. His Aunt and Uncle also have a copy as they thought it was so good. He is 18 now.
That photo was NOT taken for titilation, but in a loving family where humour is important. A moment captured forever (perhaps I ought to bring it out when he introduces us to his current girlfriend? You know, an alternative to the 'rug' baby photos?!!)

Ridiculous. I think it's a really good shot, very artistic and appealing. |

I really don't understand what the objections are about. I think that it's sad that a charity lost out over it though. |

This is insane. No other way to put it. I am just amazed at PC run amok. |
