100 Mile Trek Sahara by JayJay7 on 14 May 2011 8:30pm

Dear All,

This message is mainly directed at Mr Palin, but any help will be helpful.

I am a student at Loughborough University being sponsored by the Royal Navy.

Next summer I am planning on doing a charity trek in the Sahara Desert. I plan on doing 100 miles in 10 days, which will finish at the sea/ocean.

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice with regards to where to start the trek from, and also personal experience of trekking in the saraha.

Many Regards

JayJay

Mr P's book 'Sahara' has lots of useful information and I'm sure I've seen a copy in a charity shop in Scotland. It's also free to read here in the site. I'd be inclined to avoid Libya and Tunisia for your finishing point at the moment.

Thanks Mr Dunn, I have changed the trip slightly, going to do 100 miles in 5 days. More of a challenge! Yes i am just staying in morocco for the expedition.

Many thanks,

JayJay

Make sure you acclimatise/train properly before going. If your 100 miles is all on foot it will be tough.
