Bucket List. by tucsonmike on 19 June 2013 3:10am

Again, if I ever have a lot of money and if I am every allowed a vacation, I found a Bucket List.

I was looking @ the website http://www.seat61.com I suddenly got it into my head to want to go to Vietnam. Always wanted to go to China. Beijing-Hanoi, Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City, then to Bangkok, then the train to Singapore.

I'm getting too old for big plans. Although if anyone wants to give me free money I'll take it and probably spend it on my stamp collection.

mike - you should allow yourself a holiday. If you work for a company that doesn't allow you holidays then their personnel management is horrendous. It's never a good thing to be too good at your job. It could get to a point that they say OK have a holiday then on these dates and come these dates you have the flu and your holiday is ruined because you couldn't arrange or pick the holiday time yourself.

Ken, if the right things occur, I may not have to be there much longer. :)

I would love to see the Northern Lights too, Kazzz.

Galapagos, Northern lights from the arctic circle somewhere (anywhere?), Eastern Turkey (one part we have never been able to get to because of terrorism).

I'd also LOVE to see places like Deadwood, Dodge City, Tombstone, The Black Hills - we've been to a few places in the states but haven't managed these yet.

I can thoroughly recommend The Black Hills, Anne. Also Deadwood.

My very favourite song as a child was 'The Deadwood Stage', Sue. And of course though I probably didn't know at the time, Black Hills of Dakota was also from Calamity Jane!

We've visited California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and Florida, which were al very enjoyable, but I'd love to visit some of those place names from the TV of my childhood!

When visiting Deadwood, we were going to visit Mount Moriah cemetery where Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok are buried but it was a long walk up a hill and I had terrible blisters from my walking boots having walked a lot the day before. So I stayed behind while the others went up there. I was most disappointed.

I would love to go to the places you just mentioned, i.e. California, etc., Anne.

Oh how wonderful Sue, though my illness would probably have prevented me from climbing the hill.

It was a self-driving trip, Sue and was wonderful. We had had to take our 2 eldest grandkids out of school for the trip (we were bringing them up at the time, they were about 9 and 10 at the time I think) but I am not ashamed of this because they saw so much more than they would have learnt in class for those 2 weeks or so. They saw the Grand Canyon, drove through Death Valley, and explored other national parks such as Joshua Tree, Yosemite (California); Bryce Canyon, Zion (Utah).

They saw the Mohave desert,

They chatted to Navajo Indians, saw buffalo and went whale watching and on a boat trip around Alcatraz (I would gladly have locked them in it at this stage as their constant bickering was to say the least annoying!!)

They also went to Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood. They went to Hollywood Boulevard and saw the walk of fame and the various hand/feet prints of stars outside the Chinese Theatre. They also went up the famous staircase in the Kodak Theatre where the Oscars take place (or used to?).

Lots more too, I don't think they missed out!!

:)
