The Chatter Box : Blathering On

1967 by Spursfan2 on 8 August 2013 9:12am

I was unwell yesterday, which led to a night of not sleeping well.

During one long period of lying awake, my thoughts were, for some unknown reason, taken back to the 'Summer of Love', 1967.

I was 14, and a 'Flower Child'. Remember that term? I wore a couple of bells round my neck hanging down on pink ribbon, and flowers in my hair.

At school I was obviously unable to wear bells or flowers, but kept a bell in my briefcase (why??!) and I can remember a schoolmaster saying in an exasperated tone 'oh you're one of THEM!' (which of course now has other implications!) when I accidentally dropped my briefcase and a loud 'tinkle' emanated from within!

Good times!

:)

That has reminded me of a song called San Francisco, where you could meet some people with flowers in their hair. I heard this song a lot when I was working in the local 'chippy'.
