What are some of your favourite pictures of Michael? One I especially like is in a book called "Life of Michael" and it's of him with the children. (Maybe his wife took the picture?).

The pictures in the book by Basil Pao are all great.

My favorite picture...I can't really say. How do you chose a favorite picture from thousands! I've seen that picture, it's so cute! Have you see the one where he's napping on the grass in his Sir Galahad costume? That one's cute. Oh, I got a fav but it's not of only Michael. It's a picture of Terry, Terry, Mike, and John and everyone has their arms streched out to use their hand to cover John's fav in the picture. I can't really describe it but it's a nice one :)

This is as hard as asking me what my favourite Monty Python sketch is. Too difficult.

Hiya SueJL,
Nice to see/read you back :-}.

The pic on Michaels T-shirt is "Dan Dare" I think, he slept in it a lot during the series.

The "Life Of Michael" is written by Jeremy Novick, it's the first book Michael has agreed to be interviewed for, so authorised!
I liked it firstly for that reason and also because I felt it was well researched, well written and looks to show a balanced and rounded picture of Michael and his work, not just looking for juicy gossip. There are an interesting selection of pics, some I'd never seen before.... a lovely one of Michael with his three children, one of him standing half in a bush looking very intensely at the camera and one of him in his garden putting his hand out to try and wave the camera away as he does up his shoes, which appears to be a pair of brown wingtips!!!!!!! (Helen!!! :-} )

This biography seemed better than the one written by Jonathan Margolis which wasn't authorized and put together mainly through other articles and seemed more interested in the sensational spin, including giving pics and a very detailed account of where Michaels house is and what it looks like; he stopped just short of giving the actual street address but named other prominant people who had lived in the same cul-de-sac so anyone who knew the area or were able to use a map could find it very easily!!!!!!!!! Personally I felt this was overstepping the line and intrusive. Michael and his family are entitled so some privacy.

I think you can get the book at Amazon.co.uk or the library should have one, thats where I first saw it. :-}

Happy reading,

Ellen

Ellen,
I have this book on order-- my hubby, the bookseller, says it will be in by christmas. it's being imported, doncha know.
I was a little disappointed in the Margolis book for the same reasons you stated. the Novick one sounds great-- can't wait to get my mitts on it.
I do agree with you-- the Palins deserve privacy, and journalists, authors and the like have a responsibility to respect this.
I loved the pictures in the Margolis book. His wife is quite beautiful, and she seems to be an intelligent and interesting person as well(she's a bereavement counselor?! That is AWESOME).
they seem like a caring family-- the kind of folks who would be wonderful neighbors.
Thanks for your input on the Novick book--it seems like it will be a good read....
Helen

I haven't read the book yet (because it's not in the library :( ) but I've heard someone say I think on amazon.ca that the book seemed too short and it seemed just like another way for the author to earn money but he pictures were quite interesting. I hope that's not true :(
