Michael and the Arthurian Legend? by Rusted on 19 November 2002 10:16pm

Hello again!

Just one more note from the newbie and then I promise to shut up for the day.

I read in one of the many Python books ("Life of Python", I think?) that Michael was a big fan of the King Arthur legend and that was, along with Terry's obsession with the middle ages, one of the main reasons that the concept of doing a King Arthur spoof came about.

Being a HUGE fan of the legend myself...I have to ask...does anyone know if this (Michael's interest in the legend) is positively true? It's the only book I've came across that mentions anything about it. If Michael is interested in the Arthurian Legend, I would be extremely overjoyed, and life would be good. :O)

I read that too in "Life of Python", (by the way it's one of the best python books out there) I think it's true, and there's something about like how they're interests is why they made the plot for the "Holy Grail" movie.

I ordered 'Life Of Python' very recently. I shall see if I agree with you nottlob on it being, "one of the best python books out there."

Speaking of the legend of King Arthur and the movie 'Holy Grail'. I happened to watch it last night and one of my favourite parts as a child when I first heard it on my brother's record was the Swamp Castle scene. Still is. The make-up and costumes for both Terry Jones and Michael in that scene was great. If it were not for Michael's voice I would have a hard time knowing it was him, and same goes for Terry. Brilliant. :-)

Well, I really enjoed "Life of Python". I hope you'll enjoy it too :) When I first saw the Holy Grail, I had no idea that it was Terry who played the smart knight! (I didn't really catch the knight's name) I was stunned to find it was Terry because I was so new to Python and Terry's voice was all different and the helmet really covered his whole head. The movie's great! I'd like to watch it more often but I don't have it...yet...lol

Terry playing the smart one? Yeah, I suppose he was for that time. Witches made out of wood, weighing the same as a duck, (though that witch did, or the duck was a heavy one). Earth shaped as a banana, building a huge rabbit but forgetting to climb inside of it with the other Knights, seeing if a dove,(no, not a swallow) can fly with a coconut tied to it, etc.
