my race to beijing by Katin on 21 November 2003 8:20pm
In the 1970s before Russia graciously
allowed us ie British Airways to fly over their airspace. It was quite a journey from London to Beijing China. For example one way to go was London.FRankfurt.Dubhai.Hong Kong Beijing.and other routes,My friend Bill and myself were booked in the Great Wall Sheraton hotel Beijing,So I challenged him to a race the loser buys the drinks.I was sat in the bar awaiting his arrival having beaten his time by some 4 hours.[which way did I go)a coconut for the winner lol

..you have me before i have found my globe...but what if you flew london over the top to anchorage ak. a major hub for refueling for long distance carriers in those days and then connected with a flight to tokyo and thence to beijing or peking...and on to the peace hotel. or the great wall sheraton for those who could afford it....a coconut does not seem sufficient to make up for the airport delays. back to vodka in stockholm, ok??? lol to you, too...
