bull running in Pamplona, Spain! by kidjuxta on 20 January 2004 11:55pm

Hey all... has anyone been bull running in Pamplona, as featured on Palin's 'Hemingway's Adventure'? It looks great!

I'd only "observe" it. Because i dont agree with the whole idea of deliberatly pissing off a bull, and then letting it loose in the streets just for our entertainment, to then kill at the end when it's exhausted (i think they kill it anyway). Like all these things,i would'nt interfere in another culture's way of doing things. I may simply observe it if i happened to be there, because i would be in that country and seeing what they get up to in foreign lands. But it does'nt mean i have to agree with it. Similar in Bogota in Colombia. I remember a bullfighting stadium was there, and i was'nt interested in going to see a match as i simply did'nt agree with it.

P.S : Assuming you're talking about the event where they let it loose in the streets and then everybody runs like hell to save their lives (the Bull often skewers drunk British football louts, who overestimate their skill level in comparison to the locals)

I thought the bull running was one of the highlights of the Hemmingway Adventure,I'd love to do it sometime too!:)Though that is an interesting point whether or not 'outsiders' should take part in local customs....wonder what others think.

I don't feel sorry for the bulls and don't apologise for not feeling sorry for them either! Hey,if I was a bull I think it would be a great way to go compared to the slaughterhouse!:)

In my younger day I would have had a go, just for the excitement. Not too sure about these days though.
I actually quite like it when the bull does someone some damage, like goring a bullfighter, and they have to have an emergency operation or something like that. Yippee!! Serves 'em right. The Pamplona thing always looks like a big adrenalin rush and would be great if you came out of it in one piece.
