San Diego, U.S.A. you should visit by lll on 27 February 2003 6:16pm

What a place! I was there over the summer working in an hotel on a j1 visa with my girlfriend. After starting out in San Fran we decided to head down to the far South of California because there was a great shortage of jobs in the area. When we arrived in San Diego after an 11 hour bus journey we were so amazed at the climate, the cleanliness of the place, the nice people esp the mexican people who we worked with but the nicest of all was the beaches and the pacific in particular the town of Coronado and its beach absolutly beautiful. I think everone should go esp students....

I could'nt agree more. I've just been to the west coast of the USA. Had a brilliant time. After a 10hr flight to LA, we had a 2hr coach drive to San Diego. It's one place where anyone from Britain settle very easily. The Old Town is absolutly gorgeous. After a couple of days there,we went to Phoenix,Az. Another nice place, but being out in the desert it's very hot.As to was Las Vegas,we had 2 nights there just enough for a typical Brit not used to being 103 degrees in the shade. After the heat it was nice to be in the cool of San Fransisco.Anyone going there should visit Alcatraz on the evening tour. It gives a different perspective as the sun goes down, and the Island gets dark.
We finished back in LA, Anaheim to be exact. Just a 10 min walk from Disneyland.
In all, everyone in the States are so pleasant, and the country so tidy,it always make it a pleasure to visit.

I think San Diego is a fabulous place. I used to visit there every week whilst working onboard a cruise ship back in 1997. What's a J1 visa ? Is this something that enables British people to work in the USA ?

Please advise.
