High School Senior Class Trip...Any suggestions? by bandgeek512 on 23 October 2005 8:07pm

Joining in on the travel talk and such, I thought I’d toss in a post of my own just for good measure. I’m still relatively new, so I usually tend to stay hidden, venturing out of my cave only if I feel truly audacious. I guess that could be considered one of those times.

Every other year at my small private school takes a trip for that year’s Junior and Senior class. This is one of those years and I’m in the senior class. Because we’re older, we have the final suggestion that will be put to administration at my school. I’ve been not-so-aptly named “suggestion maker” of the senior class. Hence my question…

We might not be able to go *anywhere* in the world, but, if done right, we might be able to persuade administration to let us go out of the US. Since I’m sure that there are many here that can make very good suggestions, I’m asking for a bit of help here. (Shh, it’s my little secret…) For one trip a couple years ago, the classes went to London, of which I am very envious. The classes this year want to do something different than years past, which is okay with me. I’ll be studying music in London within the next couple of years anyway…

From what I understand, if we plan early enough, we’ll be able to go somewhere we’d thoroughly enjoy going to. Otherwise, the frightfully boring adminstrator will choose for us. I'd rather go out of the US, myself. Does anybody have any sensible suggestions for our trip? It can’t be anything wildly untamed or anything like that (although, I’d really enjoy something completely out of the ordinary…)

I’d *love* to hear some opinions! If you’ve been there, or have heard good things about a destination, let me know! I’ll be eternally grateful. I mean, if it were something exciting in the US, that'd be great, too! I'm up for suggestions.

Well, how about Spain or Italy. The exchang rate isn't nearly as bad as in the Uk for Americans. Many schools have mid-term trips to both of these places with an escort. I've been to Spain, but it's been 25 years ago or more. zANd also italy, but not for any length of time. But, still, considering everything, you get more for the dollar in those places than the UK.

Try Eastern Europe. I have been and can give some suggestions. I also know people there. Will write in more detail later.
Listening to Lou Rawls sing the National Anthem. The first pitch should come shortly Game 2.

Oh yeah, Eastern Europe. I've been to Hungary and enjoyed it thoroughly. And I also have been to the former Yugoslavia. That's when it was still a 6-republic country. If it was me , at any age, I think the Dalmation coast would be my choice between the two. There are ebaches and the glorious Adriactic Sea. The exchange rate is super for Americans too. Lots of sunshine and lovely scenery and history galore! Try Dubrovnik. You can't miss. If you can't enjoy yourself there, you can't enjoy yourself anywhere. Wherever you go, have fun!

Thanks, everyone! I'm taking down those names and looking them up so I can have information to give to the adminstrator! If anybody else has suggestions, I'd love to hear them!!

It's pretty expensive for Americans, though, Sophie! But it's a gorgeous place, I agree!

London's been a big suggestion by the Principal and Adminstrator of my school. London's not bad. In fact, I'd be terribly excited to go.

Another suggestion was Chile. Anybody ever been? I'm still giving suggestions of destinations, but the two main picks are London or Chile. Those are the two that are definite choices. Others are up for suggestion.

Hell, I'd go to Mars if I were you. Lovely orange scenery.
