Torino 2006 - The XX. Olympic Winter Games by Tauriel on 10 February 2006 7:01pm

It's here!!! :-D In one hour and a few minutes the Opening Ceremony is starting!

Official website: http://www.torino2006.org/ENG/OlympicGames/home/index.html

Feel free to discuss anything and everything about the Winter Games.

I personally hope that our hockey team will overcome the bad luck we've always had on the Olympics and bring home some medals! :-D

I'm looking forward to the downhill skiing and the skijumping and am hoping for Finlay Mickel the Scots skier to do well.

I'm just watching the Opening Ceremony right now and it's absolutely beautiful! :-D

As for the Games themselves, I'll definitely be watching the hockey, hoping that our boys will do well (GO SLOVAKIA!!! :-D ), the alpine skiing and figure skating. :-)

Futuristic armies and Ferrari's doing burnouts? I don't get it. Then again, I don't think I'm supposed to.

I actually liked the Ferrari. ;-) But the ski-jumper created by hundreds of extras was stunning and fantastic. And so was the raising of the Olympic circles.

The dove, the ski-jumper, and the rings were the best thing about the Opening Ceremony IMO. And the lighting of the flame - the best I've seen yet!!

The mogul skiing was good last night, but it must be murder on the knees. Bump, bump, bump, jump, land, bump, bump... etc. One of the poor American ladies had had four total knee replacements - ouch!

1. WHAT was with the crappy old disco music for the opening ceremony?!?!

2. Anton Apollo Ono is about the coolest name I've ever heard.

3. Michelle Kwan is now the Dan Marino of figure skating, too bad, she's a class act.

Yes, Anton Yoko Ono is one of the great names in sports.

Today, was the 15K cross country skiing. My kind of sport. No show, all guts. But, then again, there's hockey.
