Like to make your own Michael Palin style DVD? by drsmith on 19 February 2006 5:21pm

I am a keen traveller who enjoys adventure.
On one occasion I was even mistaken for Michael - well 'Bicycle Repair Man' actually (except I was in Malaysia - not on Krypton).

Ripping yarns is currently being repeated.
My favourite episode was the old traveller, who picks up strange exotic and deadly diseases in each country he visits.
He savours these as treasured mementoes of his colourful trips.

So - would you like to be Michael Palin, but with your own colourful trip?
Do you have a trip planned that has a particular theme or objective?
Do you think others would like to share your experiences?

If you would like a video cameraman along on your trip, then send me a brief outline of your plans.
I am an experienced cameraman and video editor.

Michael - If you read your own board ;-)
If you are looking for crew - this includes you.
I hope my post isn't too cheeky - but I'm sure you don't want to monopolize your admired role.
I often wonder how you do some of your shots - I'm convinced you have about 10 cameramen, which you expend on the way.

For instance - catching the train in the Sahara, the camera depicts the departing train.
How does he re-board to capture you reclining in your first class bunk?
Also great shots of the train from ground level. The Camera then ascends to about 30 feet off the ground.
Where do you get a cherry picker or jib in the middle of the desert?
Obviously much careful planning and hard work behind the scenes.

So, back to you fellow travellers.
Contact me if you would like your adventure on video/DVD.

Best wishes to all.

Sounds fascinating, but I'd have to figure out what I wanted to do to have filmed.

So it's NOT gonna be of you at the rodeo then?

Good guess babe! I think the idea of a 49 year old man being thrown from a bull was not what the organizers had in mind.

Hey, you could take up barrel-racing and break the female stranglehold on the sport. Lots of people can still barrrel race at 49! May get back into it again myself if I get another horse who isn't more arthritic than me. (I love rodeos.)
