Inspiring Environmental Places - Europe?

My brother and I are taking a series of train rides around Europe and we were wondering about visiting some inspiring environmental sites (wind farms, people living in sustainable communities). Wondered if anyone had any good ideas about places in Europe that could be cool.
Cheers!

Have you been to the Eden Project, Wild? If you have, please tell me more about what it's really like. I get their e-newsletter and would really like to visit sometime. And is Findhorn still a viable project? I haven't heard much about them for years.... |

Actually taking a holiday in Cornwall next week and plan to visit Eden while I am there.
Also will be celebrating my 50th birthday next week of which I tremble in fear and trepidation! |

Hi Wild I hit 36 last weekend - but still feel like 18 - it's SO unbelievable it's horrific! I decided that from now on I'm 35 until the day I die!!!! Cornwall is a beautiful place to visit, with lots of villages with tea shops and then the coastal walks and scenery are stupendous. I went to the Eden project years ago, it was very informative but I'm sure it's changed since I visited it! Also try a place in mid Wales, I'm not sure of its name but spent a day there too in my youth! |

I think you are possibly referring to the Centre for Appropriate technology which is located just north of Machynlleth in mid-Wales' Dyfi Valley.
I vowed when I reached 40 that henceforth I would count backwards from then on so I am about to turn 30 again (I wish!). You never feel as old as you are and I guess continuing to feel a lot younger than the figures suggest is a big part of the battle. Also having become a new father only 15 months ago helps me to keep feeling younger. |

Thanks Anne and Happy birthday to you too.
I don't FEEL 50 at all. It's just a number I know but a rather scary one at that. Am I allowed to be a Grumpy Old Man yet though? |
