Off to Croatia by Ginnyp on 30 July 2006 2:08am

I'm taking my gals aged 13 and 5 to Croatia in two weeks. We were meant to be travelling with Daddy, but now we're on our own. I'm pretty confident of a happy holiday in Istria but is there anything I should worry about?
Many thanks
Ginnyxxxxx
P.S. Update,Daddy has bought them £200 of summer clothes and refuses to let them use them for the holiday. Next visit to Daddy is 9th September! Aaaagh What's a girl to do!!!

Bon Voyage Ginny!

Ginny, yes! Worry about your daughters and the young Croatian men. lol. No kidding though. They are handsome and romantic. Warn them to not be swept off their feet by what they hear. I was proposed to the first night I met a guy there. And propositioned twice in the old town. I was old enough to laugh it off and went about my visit, but younger girls might not be as savy.

Many thanks peripatetically for your advice. I went to Yugoslavia in 1974-75 aged 13 and Dragan was very charming, chatty and kind, albeit I was learning german and so was he.(We could never speak each others language.) But I am never going to know if he was lost during the war. I will keep an eye on my gals.
Many thanks

HAHAHAHA. Ginny, I should add that I met some very nice and very polite Croatian men too. Romantic, but polite!

Dear peripatetically . You probably see how worried I am just having to go on my own. Basically, hubby let me book it but we have been together twenty years and he is now 45 years old. I don't know if it is a mid-life crisis because I thought they didn't exist. But I AM going with my gals simply because I am used to travelling on my own but not with children yet. that's why I asked.

We will have a good time but I would rather have been with my husband, I still love him.

Ginny,
Mid-life crises do exist (and they can be had with annoying frequency.)

Enjoy your trip and teach your kids the joy of travelling. It could have been better if your husband was going to be there but he isn't, so enjoy it anyway. You have great opportunity to introduce your girls to a facinating part of the world. (BTW, I'd over-rule him and let them wear their new clothes on the trip. What is he thinking of??!!!)

I know, everyone thinks I am having a midlife crisis. Don't worry Geraldine. Elaine told me if I started wearing fifty million gold chains and showed up with a Corvette she told me how swiftly I could be dealt with LOL!

Never mess with an Irish kid from South Boston. (See I went with my heart and married one). I feel a silly story coming on.
