Chavez's speech by sighthound on 21 September 2006 7:39am
Let me state from the start that I don't trust Hugo Chavez; he's a total opportunist - charming but an oppotunuist. However, I was exceedingly amused by his remarks at the U.N. today. I find it wonderful when someone has the guts to go against diplomatic protocol and say the truth.

i like the guy but i'm not sure if he's really achieving anything by going against diplomatic protocol and saying the truth.

I share your concerns but Chavez is a breath of fresh air. (But I still don't trust the guy.) Diplomatic concerns get so mired in protocol that no one dares to speak truth. Bush does think he has a right to rule the world which I, as an American, totally reject but "ruling the world" is not a topic for discussion here. I hope that Chavez keeps needling Bush so that people here will begin to debate whether we want to be the New Rome. (always preferred Greece myself....)

As per usual Geraldine, I find myself agreeing with you. Chavez is a sleazy jerk, but it is true the U.S. has lost the goodwill we had when 9/11 happened. Oh what five years has done.

Dat boy is off the hizzy! (Egad it's sad when a 41-yr-old tries to be hip.) He's an instigator. You've got to wonder what his ultimate goals are. I don't get any sense that's he's actually mentally unstable at all. I wouldn't want to play chess with him.
