Pygmy Hippopotamus tale by Miss-M on 29 November 2006 6:55am

Once upon a time there was a pygmy hippopotamus named Humphrey. His home was among the salad bowls of the Serengeti. He would romp and frolic all day with the wilderbeest and the giraffe. By night he would beach himself among the reeds and doze peacefully as the night creatures rustled up some grub. One day Humphrey received a long distance telephone call from the Melbourne Zoo who wanted to know if Humphrey would like to relocate there. Humphrey said he would consult his personal guru and get let them know at his earliest convenience...

Pygmy Hippopotami can be fun to have around...if they wipe their feet before wallowing in bed. They can also be very ticklish if I don't notice they are in the toilet before I sit. If that happens they get mad at me because I run them through the dishwasher.

His personal guru believed that Humphrey's relocation to Melbourne might be the opportunity of a lifetime. Humphrey, however, had his doubts. He had heard that the other pygmy hippos had descended from convicts and were therefore of dubious character. The guru gently pointed out that Humphrey should not judge the Melburnian hippos by the actions of their ancestors. Humphrey had much to ponder as he waded through the salad bowl. And, he thought, it *would* be rather nice to make it to Melbourne in time for the Boxing Day test match. Humphrey was most curious to see those handkerchief thieving, beer swilling, barbeque shrimp roasting layabouts take on those whingeing Pommy bastards from across the pond.

Funny? How so? Missy is a world class mine of information on the hippo. And she knows a fair bit about dead movie stars and gourds.
If you need to know anything about creme eggs, I'm your man. Or woman, actually.
