  The Chatter Box : Travel
Victoria by notquitenglish on 30 March 2003 5:34am
I'm going to Victoria, BC, in June, and, apart from hoping insanely that Palin will be there signing books, I'm looking forward to a good time... Victoria is a beatiful city. I know as I went there two years ago. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone who knows it well had any places they would suggest I visit?

There's a lot to see, so it depends on what you like to do (sorry for the delay, haven't been on the site for a while).

Most of the main tourist attractions and shopping is all located within walking distance of the Inner Harbour.

Anyway, try the following:

1. Butchart Gardens is very popular
2. Dallas Road waterfront for walking or driving
3. Inner Harbour - with tourist attractions, boats, ferries, seaplanes

4. Empress Hotel for tea (if you like that kind of thing).

If you have a car and want to see some wild west coast, drive west to French Beach or China Beach (abour 2 hours from Victoria)- no services so take a picnic lunch.

5. Gulf Islands - take a ferry to one of the Gulf Islands for the day

6. Beacon Hill Park - walk through to the bluffs overlooking the Juan de Fuca Strait
