Some wise Turkish Sayings by Spursfan on 13 February 2007 7:28pm

Here are some Turkish sayings we found on a (yes you've guessed it!) Turkish website:

A heart in love with beauty never grows old.

A knife wound heals; a wound caused by words does not.

A thread-bare coat is armour proof against highwaymen. (Very deep this one!)

A weapon is an enemy even to its owner (those of you who have read my posts on Alaattin will know this to be true).

Having two ears and one tonue, we should listen twice as much as we speak.

Two watermelons cannot be held under one arm.

When you tell the truth, have one foot in the stirrup.

And finally, for now:

Who gossips to you will gossip about you.

Very good Anne,I like things like that .They are pearls of wisdom, passed down to successive generations.

What about that last one though?Do you think people will gossip about us once I drive through the night to Stafford?

Let them talk!

Some more sayings:

A true word needs no oath

A thousand regrets do not cancel one debt

An ass does not appreciate fruit compote (dont get this one!!)

He that speaks, sows; he that hears, reaps

Keep the tongue in your mouth a prisoner

Measure a thousand times and cut once

I have more!!!
