Thanks for sharing that with us Laura. You are indeed special to us all. Let us know if you get together with Mr. Palin. Try and get pictures or even a video clip to share with us!

Hello again!

Palin_Lover: Thank YOU! I've always wanted to be one of those 'brush with fame' people and now I am, LOL!

Fairygirl48: Thanks!!! I'm in a little town called Phoenixville, which no one has heard of unless you happen to be a fan of the Steve McQueen film, The Blob. Part of it, particularly the scene in the cinema, were filmed hereabouts. Every year we have a Blob Fest, where local townspeople recreate the scene where everyone runs out of the theatre screaming. It's quite a lot of fun and you can probably find video of it on YouTube. Phoenixville is also right next to Valley Forge, made famous by George Washington and the British Army some time back....heh, heh.

Lounge Trekker: I will see what I can do. First, I've got to actually get hold of Michael to ask if he would sign my book. As my friend Nancy says, he was always "the Nice One" so maybe....!

Perhaps we could meet for a drink, Laura? I'd love to say Hello.

We'll be away 11-18 October, but around for much of the rest of the month.

Can you give me an email address (nearly like it, that is, to avoid spammers) - I will (with help) email you & get husband to retrieve replies.

That's a very sweet section in the diaries - I remember it well. Lovely!

Linda

Hm, I thought I sent a message to you, Laura, but it didn't show up. Anyway---- it's nice to have you here. I just read your posts and think you won't have any trouble getting Michael to oblige your request to autograph your book. Your Michael experiences must've been total fun. He's such a good guy. I met him in Washington, D.C. in 2000.

BTW, I live just south of you, in Maryland. I haven't been to Valley Forge for many many years and recently was trying to think of a nice day trip. What with the cost of fuel, can't venture too far. So, thanks for the tip!

Patty~

The Blob Festival was talked about in detail in a book I read called 'Love, Stargirl' by Jerry Spinelli. The main character attended the festival and participated in the reenactment. I know exactly where it is, haha.

I heard a story about "The Blob," festival on public radio - it sounds like fun! I've never seen the blob, but I will confess that I have a fondness for "Flubber."

It must be fun and an honor (depending on context I guess!) to be mentioned in someone's "diaries..." Champagne, anyone...!

Back again....

geordiegirl: Yes, please Linda! Email me at CMCLaura at aol.com to chat more. We will be in London from 2nd October for a few days. My friend Debbie would like to try to visit a friend in Sheffield and see Edinburgh, and I have friends in Devon and Cornwell who are must-sees, but we will be in London for a few days at the start of the journey. Any recommendations on places to stay? We're thinking B&B to save money and get more local colour (I learned how to spell properly when I lived in England, lol).

peripatetically: Hi Patty, I know where Ellicott City is. One of my good friends, who actually came up when Python was at City Centre, is in Severna Park.

fairygirl48: OMG! Jerry Spinelli....he still lives locally, I believe. My brother in law went to school with his son and Jerry based a character in one of his books (don't know which one but the character was a wrestler) on Bryan. I guess that makes him more famous than me, lol!

MMMmmm: Don't forget the caviar to go along with that champers! Maybe we should have a Blob Fest party for all of us on here within traveling distance. I believe it's next month....anyone who wishes to do so, please email me and we'll see about blobbing it (I sometimes feel as big as the Blob, ack, so it's likely appropos). CMCLaura at aol.com

Good evening Laura. I am a Brooklyn native. Now, I wear jeans and cowboy boots. Where in Pennsylvania are you?

A wrestler? Hmm. I want to say that that's Who Put That Hair In My Toothbrush but I'm not sure. Hahaha, more famous than you but not as interesting. I can picture Michael being excited over Kate in the garden. After watching The Philadelphia Story I knew she was a great lady.

Thanks, Laura: with help, I will email you in the next week.

Can't recommend b & bs personally in London (they'd be expensive, but maybe that wouldn't matter?) but for something cheap, safe, basic & quite comfortable the Youth Hostels Association have several really central ones (off Oxford Street, etc.)

Don't know exact web address but google
Youth Hostels Association London and see what comes up.
