...snow in an email from the USA?

Hope you're not referring to the dreaded 2002-03 snowball fight! ;O)
I've already been hit twice!

Ellen,
I enjoyed your Christmas carol, but where were the Devonshire Cream teas? Have you eaten them all? Burp! Oops, I think it was me who ate them all. :-)

"Ooo" Dianne, you naughty lady! :-}

I did try to squeeze them in but the computer keyboard got all sticky and so I decided to go with the camels instead who were much less troublesome! :-}

Yes mary - I thought it was great - appealed to me - luckily it wasnt wing tips being hit by them might hurt! - the cream teas will be shared round after the carol singing at the convention. has anyone heard anything from anyone as to whether we can get together any place any time any where, sounds more like a james bond convention for martini!

Thought so, Lyn - you won't fool me, I'm watching for flying e-snow balls these days. ;O)

Glad you brought up the "convention" (or FEST or whatever you might call it), it'd nearly slipped my mind! Not that I'll be able to go, anyway, as it'll probably be held in England and that's too far for me to travel on my money, but it'd still be a cool thing for Palinites to do!

yeah , it would be great if we could all meet up for a book signing or something though it might scare michael a bit. But i'm sure the atmosphere with all us there would be fantastic!

I still haven't met michael, he was in Belfast but i didn't find out until an hour after the signing had finshed :-(
i'll regret that for a long time to come :-(

Yikes, Kelley. :O\ Do you live in Belfast, or near?

I'm not quite sure how long I'll have to wait before Michael takes a visit to the US. In fact, I'll probably end up having to take a visit over to England before I get the opportunity to meet him. ;O) I understand though - he's a busy, busy man! And I applaud him for that...he could probably be sitting around all day if he felt like it. It's great that he's keeping active, exploratory, and interested in life.

"'ello, 'ello Lyn...:-}"

To put you out of your misery, a wingtip style shoe is, as I understand it (and if I've got this wrong ,please someone jump in and correct me :-} ) a shoe with what looks like a pair of open wings (or a long shaped 'M'), in raised leather across the front of them. Usually around the toe area there is more patterning punched into the leather. My hubby has a black pair and that's just what they look like.

(Helen, does that sound right to you, as I feel you're the expert in these matters???????? Do hope it's the same thing we've been japing about all this time!!!!!!!!! :-} As reputations are at stake here!! )

To throw in some ideas re your question of progress regarding get togethers..........

Idea 1:
We try for national get togethers first or even related districts, so, say all the London/South Easters meet up: all the Westcountry folk and so on and so on up the country. Taking it in more achievable chunks first. The East Coast of the Us, then the West Coast of the Us, then the Middly bits of the US???

All the different bits of Canada :-}.

Europe!! (sorry...too much marmite again!! Promise to behave..:-{)

"Ahh, u ummm" you know what I mean.......making it more realistic and achievable for all of us and then going for the big shebang in the future sometime.....( in all honesty, it pains me to be this sensible as I'd love to meet you all tommorrow....or better still, yesterday !! :-} )

Idea 2 :

We exchange photos of each other the good old fashioned way , by 'snail mail' so we can at least make a visual connection. When the Chat room is up and running we can each see who we're talking to and have a kind of "convention" that way perhaps???

This way it doesn't exclude those who don't have access to a digital camera and involves very little cash outlay.

Wouldn't it be fun to receive the pics in the mail???

The one problem I'm wrestling with, with this idea is one of privacy/safety issues regarding the exchanging of private e-mail info and avoidance of SPAM (internet, NOT the delicious meat product! :-} ) in this public forum.

What do you reckon?????????

(If anyone can offer some advice, it would be most appreciated as I would never want to suggest anything that could be unsafe for any of us and I'm a bit of a learner in net protocol!! :-} )
