The Shuttle's name doesn't start with a "C" so it's all good.

It's very gray at the Cape right now (9:15 am) but "They" say there is an 80% chance of liftoff this evening. Okay, "They" are the meteorologists with NASA and the Air Force. Actually, "They" are pretty damned good!

Liftoff scheduled for 7:38 pm Eastern. Conditions for amateur photography should be good & I'm going to do my best.

It looks like it's available live on the link given above. 15 minutes to go. I think I'll watch.

That was amazing. The crew must undergo an enormous G force on take off. I was surprised how quickly you could see the curvature of the earth.

Just saw the space station and Atlantis flying overhead
If you check http://www.heavens-above.com/
then you can find the times that they are due to fly over. You cant miss it, its a very bright light which takes about 5 minutes to cross the entire sky.

I also use the tracking information in the website spaceflight1.nasa.gov with lots of / and extensions for the times it is passing over near Scotland. I haven't gone out to try to see it yet as we are cloudy over the past few days.

I was fortunate to check back into the link above to find two astronauts just starting their spacewalk at about 9.15pm UK time 11/6/7. Amazing to watch.

Wow, Cori! Can I come hang out sometime for a launch??? I've seen Shuttles land several times and I've always wanted to see one take off. What's the sound like at that distance?
